November 13, 2006 To whom it may concern:
House of New Life was founded in 2004 with a goal of addressing the needs of youth and families on Maui. It was established to bring healing, hope and a chance for a better future to individuals whose lives have been shattered due to drugs, alcohol and violence. House of New Life will be a safe haven for people who are trying to build a new life.
As a social worker for the Department of Education assigned to Family Court Drug Court, I am aware of the severely limited resources for youth entangled in the web of drug addiction and the devastating results to their lives and the lives of their families. These resources are scarce in the State of Hawaii and even more so on Maui.
I am aware of the organization’s overall mission and have worked with the key leaders who had the vision and heart to bring hope to the many who feel they are in hopeless situations. House of New Life will provide more opportunities for needed services and can prevent Maui’s youth from being placed in facilities off island. Drug abuse isn’t just an individual’s problem but a problem for the whole community. Shouldn’t the work begin and stay within the community?
Drug abuse is a very complex problem. Its solutions need to include community involvement and assistance. Therefore, we all need to work together to address Maui’s growing drug abuse problems. I believe that the House of New Life can become a part of our community’s solution to this growing problem.
Thank you for your sincere consideration in this important matter.
Sincerely yours,

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing to let you know of my support for the House of New Life. The House of New Life organization was formed in 2004 to help Maui youth who are in trouble, in one form or another.
There is a strong need for a program such as this here on Maui, and I am excited to think of the possibilities and positive experiences this program will bring.
In the past I have served on the board for a program, Teen Challenge, which was very similar to House of New Life. Teen Challenge was a part of our church congregation for many years and was very beneficial to the youth and our community as a whole.
Since Teen Challenge closed, there has been a great need for another such program. Again, I am excited about the possibilities that the House of New Life will bring and fully support this program, its mission and its leadership whom I have known and respected for many years.
