FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions1. Where is House of New Life? Currently we are operating out of a donated meeting room in Kahului for classes and at a church in Kahului for counseling. 2. Is this a church? No, it is an organization formed to strengthen families and bring hope and healing to Maui Teens. 3. When did it come about? Concerned parents in the community began meeting in 2003, a formal board began meeting in 2004. The organization became incorporated, and a non-profit organization with the IRS in 2005. 4. Why are you doing this? There is such a great need in the community; teens are getting involved in drugs, alcohol and other life controlling problems. We believe that we can’t sit idly by and not try to combat these issues with hope for teens. If even one person gets a “new life” then it will be worth all of our efforts, but we know we are already making a difference in more than just one. 5. Aren’t Aloha House and Maui Youth and Family Services already doing a residential facility? Both organizations are doing a wonderful service to the community, and we are encouraged to see what they have been able to accomplish. The needs are great though, and our community needs to have an array of services and options to meet the growing needs of teens. Currently, there is no residential facility for teen boys to attend on Maui. 6. Where does the funding come from? Other concerned parents, members of this community and people who care, churches, local businesses. That is one reason we are here today, to raise awareness and to get more people involved. 7. I don’t have money to help is there anything else I can do? House of New Life is looking for volunteers to help with fundraising, grant writing, people who can donate professional services such as accounting, legal services, etc. 8. Are my donations tax deductible? Yes, House of New Life has been approved as a 501c3 non-profit organization with the IRS. 9. Do you have teens in the program now? We are currently raising funds and working to obtain a residential facility. In the mean time we are providing counseling for teens, individuals and families and conducting parent training and support for parents of out-of-control teens. 10. When will the residential program open? We have already developed the curriculum for the program. The hurdle has been finding and funding the proper location for the residential arm of House of New Life. Services Currently Available
